What is the M.I. T.?

The Media Innovation Team (M.I.T.), which is part of the Center for 21 st Century Teaching Excellence, is located in SVC0036. The M.I.T.is a service to USF faculty and is comprised of teams of instructional designers, multimedia specialists, web developers, as well as audiovisual and video production experts. Together with faculty university-wide and community-based clients, M.I.T. staff design and implement instructional technology solutions. Innovative Teaching Grant Recipients for 2006 at the Symposium for 21st Century Teaching Technologies

Provost's Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Teaching Assistant

Each year the Provost’s office recognizes the highest level of teaching achievement by graduate teaching assistants (GTA) by awarding up to five “Provost’s Awards for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Teaching Assistant .” Applicants are nominated by faculty and must complete a rigorous application process, including the creation of an extensive Teaching Portfolio. Recipients of the award receive $1000 and a plaque presented by the Provost. The exemplary teaching of up to twelve additional GTAs is also recognized with “USF Commendations for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Teaching Assistant.” For more information about the USF Provost’s Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Teaching Assistant, please visit, http://www.c21te.usf.edu; click on Provost’s Award for Teaching Assistants.

General Education Program: Foundations of Knowledge and Learning

Certification of all general education courses for the university's new program will start this spring for courses beginning fall of 2006. The on-going certification process will continuing until full implementation of the new program in fall 2008. To be included in the new Foundations of Knowledge and Learning Core Curriculum all courses must be certified by the General Education Council (http://www.ugs.usf.edu/gec.htm). You can view the course approval process web site at http://www.ugs.usf.edu/gened/index.cfm. Information/working sessions for faculty who are preparing proposals for recertification or certification of new general education courses will be held in March and April. For the session schedule, contact Diane Williams (dwilliams@cte.usf.edu) in the Center for 21st Century Teaching Excellence. For help with assessment in general education courses, contact Terri Flateby, (tflateby@admin.usf.edu) USF’s Director of Assessment.
